Welcome To The Real Wonderland
Everything is upside down in the land of the White house. Even Alice would be dizzy. Republicans who are not the majority (yet) are the leaders of the country calling all the shots. They are the party of family values but do NOT want to extend unemployment benefits for people who cannot find work. So I guess these families don't count and they should just live in their cars. Which family value is that? I'm not quite sure. The Government is supposed to be we the people, helping protect our freedoms. To worship God , as long as that God is Jesus, liberty as long as you are not queer, and the pursuit of happiness as long as you don't expect bankers that were given billions to actually do what they were supposed to do and adjust your mortgage so you can keep your home. Apparently a patriot is someone who waves the American flag, sings God Bless America and then says to the guy living in his car, "screw you, you lazy bum. Pull yourself up by your boot straps" not noticing the guy has no boots. The Tea Party Republican patriot believes that if we just cut more taxes everything will be fine. This is the definition of crazy when you keep doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result. The tax cuts that were in place for ten years did not create jobs or we wouldn't be in the worst recession since the Great Depression, when you give a millionaire a tax cut they just have more money. Unless that millionaire is forced to use the tax cut to create jobs they have no reason to. If on the other hand you raise taxes on that same millionaire but give tax incentives to invest in new technology or other business opportunities that millionaire is more likely to spend it on a new investment opportunity than give it to uncle Sam. Yep everything is upside down, wacky, crazy, but I still believe we have hope. We will get threw these hard times and maybe see that the crazy rules that lets a Senator invisibly put a hold on good legislation is a bad idea, and that the filibuster rules need to change, and we need to raise the cap on social security, so it will be their for our children and grand children. Maybe we will pass a bill to put a two million dollar cap on all election spending. Maybe we will stop billions of dollars coming into our elections from who knows where, and we will require any candidate in any national election to participate in ten debates that are paid for by our government and televised around the world. Maybe we will invest in our country, rebuilding our roads and bridges, build new high speed trains, build a modern electric grid for solar, wind, and other energies to be used and have more energy efficient cars that won't pollute and will get us off oil. That will be the Wondrous land I look forward to seeing. And maybe just maybe you could even be a Muslim, Hindu, Christian, or any other faith in America and not feel oppressed.
