TruthyNess

Forty years of the same old lines.  Here is a glossary of terms that the GOP uses that is important for the independent voter to understand.
1: Entitlements-  When they say they want to do away with "entitlements" that means that they want to end, destroy, eliminate Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Planned Parenthood, The Environmental Protection Agency, The ATF, The Financial Protection Agency, The Food and Drug Administration, (They inspect our food and drugs for safety and since the Tea Party came in their funding has been cut, which means fewer inspectors and fewer inspections.) Head Start, WIC (Women, Infants, and Children (a government program to ensure proper nutrition for poor mothers and their children).   So when they talk about eliminating "Entitlements" make sure you understand they want to destroy government programs that many elderly and poor really depend on.
2: Tax Reform:  When a republican says "Tax Reform" it doesn't necessarily mean they want to improve the tax code for everyone.  It definitely means they want to improve it for anyone making over 1 million a year. it almost always means they want more tax cuts for anyone making over a million.  They do not want taxes raised for any reason even a good one like deficit reduction.  Almost every Republican has signed a pledge to Grover Norquist not to raise taxes under any circumstances including to reduce the deficit.
3:  Job Creation.  When a republicans says they will focus on "Job Creation" they don't necessarily mean jobs here in the USA.  Most of the jobs they create are jobs in Asia, Mexico, Canada or some other place outside the USA.
4:  Bi-Partisanship:  Normally in a world that is not the Tea Party world Bi-Partisanship is where each side compromises on a bill and the come to an agreement that neither is totally happy with but usually ends up being pretty good for the American people.  In the GOP Tea Party Republican world we have right now it means that the Republicans get everything they want and anyone else gets NOTHING and I do mean nothing they want.
There are other terms that you should know about but for now during this election season this will be a good start in helping you to understand and make a more informed decision as to the most important offices in the land.
Until next time,
Good Truthyness to all.
